Spoonerisms in U Win Tin's prison memoir "What's That? A Human Hell."

Oh, yes!

Would be fun to translate.

I tried a few.

Also UWT is full of internal rhymes in sentences.

Thanks,Ko Ko Thett.

The best example of Burmese spoonerism is the poem : shwe la ye tha, phyin ko kha lo phya ko khin.....which is translated as: the moon is bright/place the mat and plat the mace.........(from Dr. Hla Pe's Literature, Historiography, Scholarship, Language, Life and Buddhism, ISEAS, 1985).

Cheers,

Yes, I have been thinking of writing a review too. Very unusual use of Burmese language, quite frank. And poetic.

What's a "spoonerism?"

Height and dating--I think it's over-valued--like big breasts and thick lips in women.
