Paraplegic team socks Trump for insensitive remarks--yes, he's the guy who made fun of disabled/differently abled journalist. https://www.aol.com/article/news/2018/04/28/paralympic-games-organizers-respond-to-insensitive-trump-remarks/23422716/ People should be careful of making fun of people for health conditions that are not their fault. I once saw an NGO worker on a practice panel who snatched the mike from his disabled colleague, they were supposed to be play-acting for doing a presentation to set up a disabled NGO in Burma and another woman stepped in over the office partition and tried to tell 4 Ph.D.s including me, deliberating over prizes for NGO employees, that one contestant had a "mental disease" which the interferer could not even name properly-- I was so mad I stepped out and told this woman her behavior was totally unacceptable. This non-profit did not invite me back in future years when they "went inside Burma" from Thailand, but it is not something I could have ignored. In any case I have no respect for people who jump the fence and go from being advisors to the Exile Government to being advisors for Thein Sein--that is like working for the Jews to going to "advise" Hitler. kmk 4-28-2018 Posted by Kyi May at 12:49 Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest No comments: Post a Comment

David Frum: Putin made the "beautiful hookers" remark on TV, and then DJT internalized and said P said it to him
which (leads us to question" how much of what DJT says is true. https://news.google.com/news/video/gC3SSK0ew_I/d1-BuatTjKNNFuMxTw-zmkw-ctrCM?hl=en&gl=US&ned=us In TV intv, James Comey said, "(with Trump) it's all about--" pointing to his chest,"(himself) and what will fill the hole in me." I think that's true. He needs his self affirmation by bullying and deriding others and bragging about himself. 4-20-2018

Even if he’s offering to take you to church, you don’t get into a car with a drunken driver. That same caution should operate with Trump, even if you might otherwise approve any particular decision that emerges from his administration. This president is not in command of himself. He’s obsessed with his own problems. He seethes with rage and resentment for all the world to view—and those emotions are visibly distorting his decision-making.

I haven't read it yet, just read sample chapters, but I saw him interviewed on MSNBC. Reading the readers' comments is also good. This book is as compelling as the one about Litvinenko's poisoning https://www.amazon.com/Litvinenko-File-Martin-Sixsmith/dp/0230531547 and Anna Poltikovskaya's Putin's Russia, which I have read. https://www.amazon.com/Putins-Russia-Life-Failing-Democracy/dp/0805082506 Flowers at her building where Anna Politkovskaya shot. https://scriptslug.com/assets/uploads/scripts/a-quiet-place-2018.pdf Quite perfect, but I still like Justin Cronin The Passage, The Twelve + trilogy of long books better. Seems better thought out and a more complex and terrifying world. Though sometimes hard to keep track of the characters, though he provides reminders. Note how the movie script uses "illustration" Kind of script you would chop off your hands to write, but seems even if you have an idea, you can't write a movie script unless you have millions, or know someone in the movie business. Who would know Kevin Costner, like the author of Dances with Wolves. Even then, Costner told his friend, who had already written several movie scripts, to write a novel. sigh. So it goes as Kurt Vonnegut wrote. At least to write a novel all you need is paper, pencil, laptop--and stay alive. 4-13-2018 km Kyi May Kaung Words Sounds and Images

http://www.poetspath.com/exhibits/asiapac.html I'm on this list, but not on the Poetry Foundation one, maybe because I haven't written or published much poetry recently, but it's hard to do it all and stay alive. Most poets have teaching jobs. I've been more focused on fiction and non fiction for the last 2 decades, though I occasionally write poems and they;ve been in Poet Lore, first founded by Walt Whitman, and in Foreign Policy in Focus. It's also time to put out 25th anniversary editions of my 2 poetry chapbooks, but again, I am too busy querying agents also. Sent off one query letter and one outline today, for my dissertation to book project, so I can rest now and go eat and read The Twelve, the 2nd volume of Justin Cronin's The Passage. It's certainly not true as my sibling charged, that I think I'm the best writer in the world. In fact, like most writers, I have an inner demon that whips me to do better and more. As John Gardner wrote, "Inside every writer is a man with a whip." Her voice coach said of Nana Mouskouri, "Her sister had the better voice, but she had a greater desire to sing." My doctoral advisor Dr. Hebert Levine, Soviet specialist, said, "You must care deeply about what you are doing. Otherwise you will never finish." At the successful conclusion of my oral defense, he got up from his seat as Chair at the head of the table, walked around, came up to me and shook my hand, "It's all over. Now you are Dr, Kaung." Little did I know it wasn't all over, it had just started. So there to jealous sisters and non-sisters. kmk 4-12-2018

The Lie Go, Soul, the body's guest, Upon a thankless errand; Fear not to touch the best; The truth shall be thy warrant: Go, since I needs must die, And give the world the lie. Say to the court, it glows And shines like rotten wood; Say to the church, it shows What's good, and doth no good: If church and court reply, Then give them both the lie. Tell potentates, they live Acting by others' action; Not loved unless they give, Not strong but by a faction. If potentates reply, Give potentates the lie. Tell men of high condition, That manage the estate, Their purpose is ambition, Their practice only hate: And if they once reply, Then give them all the lie. Tell them that brave it most, They beg for more by spending, Who, in their greatest cost, Seek nothing but commending. And if they make reply, Then give them all the lie. Tell zeal it wants devotion; Tell love it is but lust; Tell time it metes but motion; Tell flesh it is but dust: And wish them not reply, For thou must give the lie. Tell age it daily wasteth; Tell honour how it alters; Tell beauty how she blasteth; Tell favour how it falters: And as they shall reply, Give every one the lie. Tell wit how much it wrangles In tickle points of niceness; Tell wisdom she entangles Herself in overwiseness: And when they do reply, Straight give them both the lie. Tell physic of her boldness; Tell skill it is prevention; Tell charity of coldness; Tell law it is contention: And as they do reply, So give them still the lie. Tell fortune of her blindness; Tell nature of decay; Tell friendship of unkindness; Tell justice of delay: And if they will reply, Then give them all the lie. Tell arts they have no soundness, But vary by esteeming; Tell schools they want profoundness, And stand too much on seeming: If arts and schools reply, Give arts and schools the lie. Tell faith it's fled the city; Tell how the country erreth; Tell manhood shakes off pity And virtue least preferreth: And if they do reply, Spare not to give the lie. London School of Economics Gaddafi links From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The affair of the LSE Libya Links refers to the various connections that existed between the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and the Libyan government and its leader Muammar Gaddafi and his son Saif al-Islam Gaddafi. The NGO Gaddafi Foundation pledged to donate £1.5 million over five years to a research centre, LSE Global Governance, of which £300k were paid. In addition, LSE Enterprise established a contract worth £2.2 million to train Libyan officials. In 2008, the LSE granted a PhD degree to Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, the son of the Libyan leader, for a dissertation. Currently, allegations circulate that Gaddafi's thesis was ghost-written and/or plagiarised. In December 2010, Muammar Gaddafi addressed members of the School in a video link-up where he was addressed as "Brother Leader" and received an LSE cap previously given to Nelson Mandela. In connection with the civil uprising in Libya in February and March 2011, the links between LSE and the Gaddafi regime, and the conduct of individual members of LSE's staff, came increasingly to be questioned. As a result of the revelations, the LSE's Director, Sir Howard Davies, resigned on 3 March 2011, citing "errors of judgement". In a New York Times op-ed piece on 7 March 2011, Roger Cohen wrote, in reference to events that had transpired at the School, "It may be possible to sink to greater depths but right now I can't think how. ...The Arab Spring is also a Western Winter. ...How did we back, use and encourage the brutality of Arab dictators over so many years? To what degree did that cynical encouragement of despots foster the very jihadist rage Western societies sought to curb?"

Zuckerberg says he's sorry, but too little, too late. Your data is already stolen and may be in Russia.
https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2018/apr/10/zuckerberg-facebook-testimony-latest-news-regulation-congress I don't like him at all. I read somewhere he started by stealing data from Harvard, but case was settled. Very cavalier with other people's personal data, just like the woman who took my minidiscs (of RFA broadcasts) saying she'd help me make copies and then losing them. Or the countless people who ask to read my ms, and then lose it, or say they didn't get it. Now I have stopped that kind of sharing. In fact, even a literary agent can steal your material. kmk 4-10-2018

http://www.msnbc.com/hardball/watch/nyt-trump-sought-to-fire-mueller-in-december-1207810627531 Other reporter said Mueller does waves of charges, starting with obstruction of justice. In my opinion. Robert Mueller is a brilliant prosecutor, running a water tight equally excellent team, and he can't be stopped. He will keep coming like a steamroller, and as T. most likely has many crimes, in the end Justice will prevail. T. is on the defensive now, and has been for some time.
