from 2012--death of Quanah Parker grandson, Baldwin Parker--
http://www.countystarnews.com/news/2012/012612/pageA12.pdf
Quanah Parker was the last war chief of the Comanche Nation and the son of Peta Nocono and his white Anglo-wife, taken as a captive when she was 9--Cynthia Ann Parker--
This is an amazing story of survival in the face of mass, state-sponsored genocide of the American Indians.
I urge you to read all the classics of Native American history, such as Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee, by Dee Brown.
you can start there, as I did 2 years ago, and keep reading--
Especially at a time like this of neo-nazism and white supremacy, kkk, white extreme "nationalism"
we need to remember that the Native Americans were quelled by guns germs (smallpox, cholera, syphilis) and steel (the Walker Colt six shooter).
I was recently asked by the "blind man" who came with a ladder to fix my stuck blinds, if I was Native American.
I just said, "Asian".
I don't know how he channeled that--maybe he saw some of the books I was reading.
It is my firm belief that any person, especially artists and writers, can identify with anyone or anything they wish, even inanimate objects (My Name is Red by Nobel Laureate Orhan Pamuk). Incidentally, the Turkish govt accused Pamuk of "insulting Turkishness" because he said that the Armenian genocide really happened--
and animals, my novella Beast.

Ah well--
white is just a color, it is not better nor worse than any other color.

From CNBC--quote of the day--secret task force wthin FB to combat fakew "news"
The task force, which sources tell BuzzFeed News includes employees
from across the company, has already rebutted a statement made by
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg at a conference last week that the argument that fake news on Facebook affected the election was "a pretty crazy idea."
"It's not a crazy idea. What's crazy is for him to come out and dismiss it like that, when he knows, and those of us at the company know, that fake news ran wild on our platform during the entire campaign season," said one Facebook employee, who works in the social network's engineering division. He, like the four other Facebook employees who spoke to BuzzFeed News for this story, would only speak on condition of anonymity. All five employees said they had been warned by their superiors against speaking to press, and feared they would lose their jobs if named.
More from Buzzfeed:
This woman got banned from Facebook for sharing an article about breasts
Google links to a fake site as top Election news result
Russian State television is totally here for President-Elect Trump
The employees declined to provide many details on the task force. One employee said "more than dozens" of employees were involved, and that they had met twice in the last six days. At the moment, they are meeting in secret, to allow members of the group to speak freely and without fear of condemnation from senior management. The group plans to formalize its meetings and eventually make a list of recommendations to Facebook's senior management. Another Facebook employee said while the task force remained small, "hundreds" of Facebook employees had expressed dissatisfaction with the company's stance on fake news in private online chats, and wanted to support efforts to challenge that position.
Facebook did not respond to a request for comment from BuzzFeed News, but in a statement to media last week, a Facebook spokesperson said, "While Facebook played a part in this election, it was just one of many ways people received their information – and was one of the many ways people connected with their leaders, engaged in the political process and shared their views."
In the wake of Trump's victory, Facebook has been facing questions over its responsibility in spreading misinformation or failing to clamp down on the sharing of fake news. Almost half of adult Americans rely on Facebook as a source of news, a recent study by the Pew Research Center found. A recent report by BuzzFeed News found that the three large left-wing pages published false or misleading information in nearly 20% of posts, while the three big right-wing Facebook pages published it 38% of the time. The report concluded: "The best way to attract and grow an audience for political content on the world's biggest social network is to eschew factual reporting and instead play to partisan biases using false or misleading information that simply tells people what they want to hear."

quote of the day--
In the words of Alan Paton, famous South African writer:
“Cry, the beloved country, for the unborn child that's the inheritor of our fear. Let him not love the earth too deeply. Let him not laugh too gladly when the water runs through his fingers, nor stand too silent when the setting sun makes red the veld with fire. Let him not be too moved when the birds of his land are singing. Nor give too much of his heart to a mountain or a valley. For fear will rob him if he gives too much.”

from wikipedia--the first wife--
In the late 1980s, Ivana left Atlantic City to devote more time to
her family. Her husband asked her to oversee the restoration of the
landmark Plaza Hotel,
and she took over as its president. She was named Hotelier of the Year
in 1990. Toward the end of that year, rumors began to circulate that her
husband was having an affair with a former beauty queen from Georgia, Marla Maples. While the family was on vacation in Aspen, Colorado that Christmas, she encountered Maples on the ski slopes.[14] In 1991, she retained entertainment attorney Neil Papiano and filed for divorce, seeking a greater amount of the family fortune than had been set out in her prenuptial agreement. Her husband fought back in court, protesting her claims that she had contributed to the Trump Organization.
The divorce proceedings led to extensive pieces in the gossip columns. In October 1990 her 63-year-old father died suddenly from a heart attack. The Trumps stood side-by-side at the funeral.[15] Their divorce was settled after that in 1992.[16] Although the settlement remains sealed by the courts, it is rumored that Ivana received $20 million; the $14 million family estate in Connecticut; a $5 million housing allowance; $350,000 annual alimony; all of her jewelry; and 49% of Mar-a-Lago, the family home in Palm Beach, Florida, that also serves as a private club for the Palm Beach elite. Not long after her divorce from Donald, Ivana married Riccardo Mazzucchelli.[17] The marriage was dissolved before two years had elapsed,[citation needed] and she filed a $15 million breach of contract suit against Mazzucchelli for violating the confidentiality clause in their prenuptial agreement.[18] The suit was settled out of court.[citation needed] In 1997, Mazzucchelli sued Ivana and Donald for libel.[19]
In April 2008, Ivana, then 59, married Rossano Rubicondi, then 36.[20] The $3 million wedding for 400 guests was hosted by Donald at his Mar-a-Lago estate. Trump's daughter Ivanka was her maid of honor.[21] On December 1, 2008, Trump confirmed to the Associated Press that she had filed a legal separation agreement three months previously; she has stated in interviews that she and her husband have an on-again/off-again relationship.
In 2005, she was involved in several proposed condominium projects that ultimately failed, including the never-built Ivana Las Vegas, and the Bentley Bay in Miami, Florida.[24][25] She was the host of Oxygen Network's reality-dating series Ivana Young Man in 2006. In 2010, she sued a Finnish fashion company, accusing it of selling women's clothing that incorporates her name without permission.[26] In the same year, she took part in the UK's Celebrity Big Brother, finishing seventh.[27]

Career
Soon after her divorce from Donald Trump, she signed on with the William Morris Agency and developed lines of clothing, fashion jewelry and beauty products that have been sold through television shopping channels. She has also written several books including the novels For Love Alone, Lucy Wilkins and Free to Love as well as a self-help book called The Best is Yet to Come: Coping with Divorce and Enjoying Life Again. In 2001, she penned an advice column for Divorce Magazine.[22] She played a cameo role in the Hollywood film The First Wives Club with the line, "Ladies you've have to be strong and independent. And remember: don't get mad, get everything."[23]In 2005, she was involved in several proposed condominium projects that ultimately failed, including the never-built Ivana Las Vegas, and the Bentley Bay in Miami, Florida.[24][25] She was the host of Oxygen Network's reality-dating series Ivana Young Man in 2006. 25] She was featured as a bikini model in the 2000 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.[26][27] As a model, she was associated with Irene Marie Management Group and Donald Trump's Trump Model Management.[28]
In the 2000s, she appeared in an advertisement for Aflac insurance in which she and the Aflac mascot, a duck, voiced at the time by comedian Gilbert Gottfried, exchange personalities via a Frankenstein-like mad experiment.[citation needed]
After moving to New York City in 1996,[29] Melania met Donald Trump at a Fashion Week party in New York City in September 1998, while he was still married to, but separated from, Marla Maples;[2][30] Donald attended the event with another date, Celina Midelfart, and Melania initially refused to give Donald her phone number.[23] Melania broke off the relationship shortly after it began, but the couple reconciled after a few months.[4] Their relationship gained attention after a 1999 interview on The Howard Stern Show.[31] In 2000, Melania appeared with Donald while he campaigned for that year's Reform Party presidential nomination.[31] Their relationship gained additional publicity after the 2004 launch of Donald's business-oriented reality television show, The Apprentice.
Donald described their long courtship in 2005: "We literally have never
had an argument, forget about the word 'fight' ... We just are very
compatible. We get along."[30]
After becoming engaged in 2004, Donald and Melania were married on January 22, 2005, at The Episcopal Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea in Palm Beach, Florida, followed by a reception in the ballroom at Donald's Mar-a-Lago estate.[32]
The event was attended by celebrities such as Katie Couric, Matt Lauer, Rudy Giuliani, Heidi Klum, Star Jones, P. Diddy, Shaquille O'Neal, Barbara Walters, Conrad Black, Regis Philbin, Simon Cowell, Kelly Ripa, then-Senator Hillary Clinton, and former president Bill Clinton.[32][33] At the reception, Billy Joel serenaded the crowd with "Just the Way You Are" and supplied new lyrics about Trump to the tune of "The Lady Is a Tramp".[32]
The Trumps' wedding ceremony and reception were widely covered by the media.[29] Trump wore a $200,000 dress made by John Galliano of the house of Christian Dior.[32]
In March 2006, Melania gave birth to a son named Barron William Trump. Donald suggested his first name and Melania his middle name.[34] As an infant, Barron reportedly occupied his own floor in the Trumps' apartment in Trump Tower in Manhattan, but often slept in a crib in his parents' bedroom.[34] He plays golf with his father and is reported to be fluent in Slovene.[35] He is said to like wearing a suit and tie, and Melania's nickname for him is "Mini-Donald".[5]
In November 2015, when asked about her husband's presidential
campaign, Trump said: "I encouraged him because I know what he will do
and what he can do for America. He loves the American people and he
wants to help them."[36] When asked by The New York Times in 1999 what her role would be if Donald Trump were to become president, Trump replied: "I would be very traditional. Like Betty Ford or Jackie Kennedy. I would support him."[5]
An anti-Donald Trump PAC in March 2016 published an attack ad featuring a nude photo of Trump that was published in 2000 as part of a British GQ magazine photoshoot.[37] The photograph shows her handcuffed to a briefcase, lying on a fur blanket aboard Donald Trump's private jet.[2][25][38]
In July 2016, Melania Trump's official website was redirected to Trump.com. On Twitter, she stated that her site was outdated and did not "accurately reflect [her] current business and professional interests."[39] This change came after it was widely noted by the media that the website had falsely claimed for more than 10 years that she had a degree in architecture and design from the University of Ljubljana.[40][41][42][43][44] Her biography in the 2016 Republican National Convention official program also incorrectly stated that she had obtained a degree in Slovenia.[14][45]
On July 18, 2016, Trump gave a speech
on the first day of the 2016 Republican National Convention. The speech
contained a paragraph that was nearly identical to a paragraph of Michelle Obama's speech at the 2008 Democratic National Convention.[46][47][48] When asked about the speech, Trump said she wrote the speech herself "with as little help as possible".[49] Two days later, Trump staff writer Meredith McIver took responsibility and apologized for the "confusion".[50]
On September 1, 2016, her attorneys filed defamation lawsuits against British tabloid the Daily Mail and Webster Tarpley, a Maryland political blogger. Both had published allegations from other sources that she worked as an escort for a gentlemen's club in Italy in the 1990s. Tarpley published a retraction and an apology on August 22. The Daily Mail published a retraction and apology after the suit was filed.[51][52]
In the 2000s, she appeared in an advertisement for Aflac insurance in which she and the Aflac mascot, a duck, voiced at the time by comedian Gilbert Gottfried, exchange personalities via a Frankenstein-like mad experiment.[citation needed]
Marriage to Donald Trump

Although Trump has never filed for personal bankruptcy, hotel and casino businesses of his have been declared bankrupt six [79]
times between 1991 and 2009 due to its inability to meet required
payments and to re-negotiate debt with banks, owners of stock and bonds
and various small businesses (unsecured creditors).[80][81] Because the businesses used Chapter 11 bankruptcy, they were allowed to operate while negotiations proceeded. Trump was quoted by Newsweek in 2011 saying, "I do play with the bankruptcy laws—they're very good for me."[82][83]
The six bankruptcies were the result of over-leveraged hotel and casino businesses in Atlantic City and New York: Trump Taj Mahal (1991), Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino (1992), Plaza Hotel (1992), Trump Castle Hotel and Casino (1992), Trump Hotels and Casino Resorts (2004), and Trump Entertainment Resorts (2009).[79][84][85] Trump said "I've used the laws of this country to pare debt. ... We'll have the company. We'll throw it into a chapter. We'll negotiate with the banks. We'll make a fantastic deal. You know, it's like on The Apprentice. It's not personal. It's just business."[74]
In 2001, Trump completed Trump World Tower, a 72-story residential tower across from the United Nations Headquarters.[88] Trump also began construction on Trump Place, a multi-building development along the Hudson River. He continued to own commercial space in Trump International Hotel and Tower, a 44-story mixed-use (hotel and condominium) tower on Columbus Circle which he acquired in 1996,[89] and also continued to own millions of square feet of other prime Manhattan real estate.[90]

Inheritance and further acquisitions
Trump acquired an old, vacant, 70 story office building at 40 Wall Street in Manhattan in 1996. After a complete renovation, it became the Trump Building.[86] After his father died in 1999, Trump and his siblings received equal portions of his father's estate valued at $250–300 million.[87]In 2001, Trump completed Trump World Tower, a 72-story residential tower across from the United Nations Headquarters.[88] Trump also began construction on Trump Place, a multi-building development along the Hudson River. In June 2015, Trump announced his candidacy for president
as a Republican and quickly emerged as the front-runner for his party's
nomination. In May 2016, his remaining Republican rivals suspended
their campaigns, and in July he was formally nominated for president at
the 2016 Republican National Convention.
Trump's campaign has received unprecedented media coverage and
international attention. Many of his statements in interviews, on Twitter, and at campaign rallies have been controversial or false. Several rallies during the primaries were accompanied by protests or riots. On October 7, a 2005 audio recording surfaced in which Trump bragged that fame made women amenable to kissing and groping; multiple women accused him of forcibly doing so shortly thereafter.[3][4] He apologized for the 2005 comments and denied the allegations, describing them as part of a wider smear campaign.
Trump's platform included renegotiation of U.S.–China trade deals, opposition to particular trade agreements such as NAFTA and the Trans-Pacific Partnership, stronger enforcement of immigration laws together with building a wall along the U.S.–Mexico border, reform of veterans' care, repeal and replacement of the Affordable Care Act, and tax cuts. Following the November 2015 Paris attacks, Trump called for a temporary ban on Muslim immigration to the United States, later stating that the ban would focus instead on countries with a proven history of terrorism, until the screening for potential terrorists is improved. He will be the oldest person to ever become a first-term president, at the age of 70, surpassing Ronald Reagan, who was 69 years of age upon winning the 1980 election.

Quote of the day--from Osama bin Ladin wikipedia--
Sudan and return to Afghanistan
In Sudan, bin Laden established a new base for Mujahideen operations in Khartoum. He bought a house on Al-Mashtal Street in the affluent Al-Riyadh quarter and a retreat at Soba on the Blue Nile.[101][102] During his time in Sudan, he heavily invested in the infrastructure, in agriculture and businesses. He was the Sudan agent for the British firm Hunting Surveys,[103] and built roads using the same bulldozers he had employed to construct mountain tracks in Afghanistan. Many of his labourers were the same fighters who had been his comrades in the war against the Soviet Union. He was generous to the poor and popular with the people.[104][105] He continued to criticize King Fahd of Saudi Arabia. In response, in 1994 Fahd stripped bin Laden of his Saudi citizenship and persuaded his family to cut off his $7 million a year stipend.[1][106]Bernard Henry Levi--from wikipedia--
New Philosophers
Returning to Paris, Lévy became known as a founder of the New Philosophers (Nouveaux Philosophes) school. This was a group of young intellectuals who were disenchanted with communist and socialist responses to the near-revolutionary upheavals in France of May 1968, and who developed an uncompromising moral critique of Marxist and socialist dogmas.[5] In 1977, the television show Apostrophes[6] featured Lévy together with André Glucksmann as a nouveau philosophe. In that year, he published Barbarism with a Human Face (La barbarie à visage humain, 1977), arguing that Marxism was inherently corrupt. Throughout the 1970s, Lévy taught a course on epistemology at the University of Strasbourg and he also taught philosophy at the École Normale Supérieure.Artisan Fair, 2016--

I manned or womaned my clothing booth at an art fair, single-handed and earned some money--
but it is not something I can do daily.
For one thing, I need to look after myself and make the artwork.
But it was a lot of fun, as usual talking to the other artists.
The artist/musician was very cool, sang several songs to the old lady in a wheelchair, including You are My Sunshine, and posed for a photo wearing my art scarf/vest.
He had also made a chalk pastel of a flamingo on black paper.
However, I did not pose for a $10 pencil sketch, and can't find for now the one Htein Lin did of me at the Hotel Arthur in Helsinki--
and in the end I only bought one gift item for a child, I did not buy the other item I intended to, as felt poor.

Quote of the day--Instagram doing better than parent Facebook, from wiki--
On April 12, 2012, Facebook acquired Instagram for approximately US$1 billion in cash and stock.[44][45]
The deal, which was made just prior to Facebook's scheduled IPO, cost
about a quarter of Facebook's cash-on-hand, according to figures
documented at the end of 2011. The deal was for a company characterized
as having "lots of buzz but no business model", and the price was contrasted with the US$35 million Yahoo! paid for Flickr in 2005,[39] a website that has since become among the 50 most popular in the world.[46]
Mark Zuckerberg noted that Facebook was "committed to building and growing Instagram independently", in contrast to its past practice.[39] According to multiple reports, the deal netted Systrom US$400 million based on his ownership stake in the business.[47] The exact purchase price was US$300 million in cash and 23 million shares of stock.[48]
On December 17, 2012, Instagram updated its Terms of Service, granting itself the right—starting on January 16, 2013—to sell users' photos to third parties without notification or compensation.[49][50][51][52] The criticism from privacy advocates, consumers, the National Geographic Society,[53] and celebrities like Kim Kardashian[54] prompted Instagram to issue a statement retracting the controversial terms; regardless, the issue resulted in the loss of a portion of Instagram's user-base, as former users switched to other photo-sharing services, which reported an increase in usage.[55]
