Self publishing is good for things you want in a hurry--

e.g. reports. Activism related items.

Before--you had to use either their generic designs or a pre-formatted design.

I used generic sometimes, sometimes custom designs.

Now you can use their Cover Creator with images of your own, or free images from the Internet.

This is an advance.

That said, good writing and a nice cover will not on their own produce massive sales.

You still need An Agent, and active marketing and social media on your own.
