Special--Faraway Village--I wonder where they are--giant bull roast--a big

fruit-beef etc biryani pie, a kind of borsch, homemade buns--
all without electricity.

You can make a much smaller version of everything, using store-bought items like chicken, pork or beef--
store bought veggies, fruits--cooking oil--but your own vegetable or bean or meat stock--
and making maybe one item a day, ending with the bread and the fruit biryani "pie."
This is for SERIOUS CHEFS who love a challenge and also want to eat well on a budget.
You have to work on my modular cooking method--buy in lots (this was taught to me by Aunty Rani Asirwathan, wife of a Tamil judge from Jaffna, Ceylon, they always say), not Sri Lanka:
"Buy a bit at a time with your normal groceries, so you won't feel the pinch as much." She taught me how to make fruit cake.
Then my contribution, make the elements for each dish in "modular units"
e.g. cut the meat--marinade on grocery day--keep in plastic containers
Cook some--like the stuffing for the giant pie-
Day 1 to 3--the veggie soup.
day 3-4--the meat dishes.
day 5, the breads
day 6--a small pie
or a small biryani.
Hopefully some of each item will be left for your big solo feast to treat yourself.
Cheers and happy thanksgiving.
We are alive, we are together, at least for me, Our Party won.
