Generally
I don't like horror, and only read one Stephen King novel, don't
remember which one, though I saw the Shawshank Redemption, which is
possibly one of best movies ever made--based on a King short story.
And
I don't like "hard sci fi" like space craft, bc "there's not much
space" in a space craft, though I like Star Trek. I think that is bc
the characters in Star Trek are allegorical, such as Data.
This
Nightworld is an ensemble novel where all the story lines and
characters come together, as in the last scene and song of Broadway
musical Les Miserables, based on Victor Hugo novel.
It's culmination of 6 novel Adversary series and 15 novel Repairman Jack series, and I just like the author's voice.
Also,
though they haven't made their appearance yet in the online samples I
read, these novels feature Rakshas, wh F Paul Wilson calls Rakosh or
Rakoshi. In fact collectors' edition of The Tomb is out under original
title The Rakoshi for 00s of $$.
But I am only buying $6 used paperbacks.
I saw the cover for The Last Rakosh and it was disappointing.
It's much better not to see an illustration, as when the monks in Burma drive the bad spirits out by reading the Kammawa Sar,
"Ya-khat! Gandappa!"
If you're a bad spirit lurking around the house, that will surely drive you out.
I always wanted to read or write a novel with Asian mythology, rather tired of dragons, witches, vampires and shape-shifters.
Too
bad I had to leave Facebook due to security issues. One of the artists
there painted great demons like Bilus, and I could have requested an
image to use as a book cover.
Oh well. Need to write the stories first.
I'm sure you will agree with me that the beginning of Nightworld is just riveting.
