I just finished reading Jon Krakauer, Into Thin Air,
and
the other book that refutes it, is by Russian climber Anatoli Boukreev,
who with millionairess Sandy Pittman is no portrayed too kindly in Into
Thin Air. Boukreev was killed in an avalanche in 1997.
The
tragedy related by Krakauer took place in 1996. I started to finish
reading Into Thin Air because of the news of the traffic jam and the
deaths on Everest this year.
