Burmese know no boundaries, that's their problem--Qs I have been asked within 15 minutes of meeting people--
1. What is your religion?
3. Are you Buddhist or Christian?
4. Are you widowed or divorced?
one asked "Where did your guide (in Siem Reap) sleep at night?
I said,"I don't know."
I should have said, "He slept in my bathtub."
One woman, well-educated and quite westernized, in fact very westernized, spent about 30 mins. grilling me as to whether the young man in LA, who was going to film school, moonlighting as a Lyft driver, was"a special friend" to me, or a junta spy.
If he was, would I tell her? If he was a spy, why would he leave his air waves job?
Some people are amazing blockheads.
This same woman flounced away when my friend asked her a question she did not know the answer to. I answered it for her.
"Rohingya is a subset of Burmese Muslim."
