Lovely re-discovery--Account of Michael Symes to the Kingdom of Ava--1795.

https://www.burmalibrary.org/docs21/Symes-1827-Embassy_to_Ava-Vol.I-tu.pdf
I saw the original of this in the Social Science Library in the 1960s-70s, but I wasn't much interested in Burmese history at that time, too many problems in the present.
My interest now is only to write fiction--like Dalrymple's White Moghuls.

A Merchant Ivory movie--The White Countess--Russian exiles in Shanghai, 1936, a blind man played by LiamNeeson--

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQo1NoNwwtc I think this movie isjust exquisite--like their When the Rains Came.
