Crochet shawl to die for, maybe be buried in.


I know the Hmong made complete sets for their own funerals, complete with embroidered robes, head-dresses and shoes, and when they converted to Christianity, they sold them off.

I have a long coat made up of parts of Hmong cross stitch.

It's always much admired whenever I wear it, and once when I was mid-sentence giving a talk, the Burmese girl next to me tapped my hand and asked, "Aunty, Aunty, where did you get that?"
