No private waiting area or anything. Beware of writers, as they say. Way back in 1983 or so, during a holiday visit, family friend Joe went to bed early, then came downstairs again to find his somewhat drunk wife and me chatting. He said, "I came downstairs to warn (Scallion Shoot) that you are a writer and not to tell you that story, but she already has." Joe has since passed away and Scallion has told me quite a number of stories, only one of which I have rejiggered and fictionalized, but not this particular one. Stay tuned. All I can say now is it involves X'rays and electricity. Part of what became my novella 53 Red Roses, was related to me at lunch by a friend of a friend, who came specifically to tell me that story, with a different number of roses. And so it goes.
