quote of the day fr populism wiki
Political parties and politicians often use the terms populist and populism as pejoratives against their opponents. Such a view sees populism as demagogy,
merely appearing to empathize with the public through rhetoric or
unrealistic proposals in order to increase appeal across the political spectrum.[2]
Populism is most common in democratic nations. Political scientist Cas Mudde wrote that, "Many observers have noted that populism is inherent to representative democracy; after all, do populists not juxtapose 'the pure people' against 'the corrupt elite'?"[3]
Reminds you of someone or some people??

Yes, FBI is under Dept of Justice, therefore WH leaning on FBI is serious matter,
see Maddow analysis below--
Operating under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of Justice, the FBI
is concurrently a member of the U.S. Intelligence Community and reports
to both the Attorney General and the Director of National Intelligence.
... Its name was changed to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in 1935.

Very sad when talented actors, designers, poets, artists die--while villains--From Dark Knight wiki
- A psychotic criminal mastermind portraying himself as an "agent of chaos", who rises to dominant power by terrorizing Gotham and plunging it into anarchy. Before Ledger was confirmed for the role in July 2006, Paul Bettany,[18] Lachy Hulme,[19] Adrien Brody,[20] Steve Carell,[21] and Robin Williams[22] publicly expressed interest in it. However, Nolan had wanted to work with Ledger on a number of projects in the past (including unsuccessfully approaching Ledger for the role of Batman in Batman Begins) and was agreeable to Ledger's chaotic interpretation of the character.[23] When Ledger saw Batman Begins, he had realized a way to make the character work that was consistent with the film's tone:[24] he described his Joker as a "psychopathic, mass murdering, schizophrenic clown with zero empathy."[25] In the film, the Joker has a Glasgow smile, and his trademark chalk-white skin and red lips are makeup rather than the result of chemical bleaching, as in the traditional portrayal of the character. Throughout the film, the Joker states his desire to upset social order through crime, and comes to define himself by his conflict with Batman. To prepare for the role, Ledger lived alone in a hotel room for a month, formulating the character's posture, voice, and personality, and kept a diary, in which he recorded the Joker's thoughts and feelings.[17][26] While he initially found it difficult, Ledger eventually generated a voice unlike Jack Nicholson's character in Tim Burton's 1989 Batman film.[25][26] He was also given Batman: The Killing Joke and Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth, which he "really tried to read and put it down."[24] Ledger also cited A Clockwork Orange and Sid Vicious as "a very early starting point for Christian [Bale] and I. But we kind of flew far away from that pretty quickly and into another world altogether."[27][28] "There's a bit of everything in him. There's nothing that consistent," Ledger said, and added, "There are a few more surprises to him."[27] Ledger was allowed to shoot and mostly direct the videos the Joker sends out as warnings. Each take Ledger made was different from the last. Nolan was impressed enough with the first video shoot that he chose to not be present when Ledger shot the video with a kidnapped reporter (Anthony Michael Hall).[29] On January 22, 2008, after he had completed filming The Dark Knight, Ledger died of an accidental prescription drug overdose, leading to intense press attention and memorial tributes. "It was tremendously emotional, right when he passed, having to go back in and look at him every day [during editing]," Nolan recalled. "But the truth is, I feel very lucky to have something productive to do, to have a performance that he was very, very proud of, and that he had entrusted to me to finish."[28] All of Ledger's scenes appear as he completed them in the filming; in editing the film, Nolan added no "digital effects" to alter Ledger's actual performance posthumously.[30] Nolan has dedicated the film in part to Ledger's memory.[31][32]

well, so far so good--they say "go back to paper" and I did, but so much is electronic these days--
not to mention poor quality cheap goods made in China and imported.
I had to return an iron, a rice cooker and a bathroom scale.
But the more expensive Japanese made rice cookers are still working,
as is the $10 US made? slowcooker, whose bottom gets very hot, but I always use it with the trivet from the stove top.
These items have been with me for 2 -25 years.
Ah well, on the whole I hate machines, but here one would not cook with wood or charcoal.
I guess one should be thankful.
And one does not have to breed and feed and slaughter and butcher one's own pig, which another friend said she had to do, in an apartment back home!
She said her friend fed the pig so well on leftovers, no one even knew she was raising a pig in the bathroom.
She also said her mother in law raised dogs to eat under the house.
Ah well, they are Karen, and used to hunting and farming.

Luke Harding writing in Putin's Russia said his home was invaded by FSB agents, who left purposely obvious "fingerprints" as warnings, such as leaving the double locked windows near his son's bed purposely propped open.
Harding said it got so bad that sometimes when he was typing up his book, the line would disappear from L to R, as he typed.
He said, finally he left a note to the effect--I don't care of you read my ms, as you are reading it anyway, but pl let me finish writing.
It sounds like something out of Girl with Scorpion Tattoo, but it is all true.

I have a slight connection once or twice removed with Arrow & Samuelson, besides having studied their work in grad school, in Rangoon, Burma, believe it or not. But those were the good old days.
My mentor Dr Ronald Findlay was a student of Samuelson at MIT and also a student in math of A Beautiful Mind the late John Nash.
My mentor is only abt 7? years older than I, and was known as one of the youngest Ph.D.s, at least in Burma or from Burma--
but he suffered as he was of mixed race, and was passed over for a promotion, wh resulted in his emigration and Columbia Univ in NY's gain, and gain for what must be by now hundreds of students there.
(That is only one of the reasons I am against the present bigot Am. presdt.)Another Nobel laureate economist Joseph Stiglitz is also at Columbia U and I am happy to say I helped bring him to DC and to go to Burma through Dr. Findlay and OSF (Open Society Foundation).
In 2012 I helped Columbia put together a panel on the Rohingya, a subset of Burmese Muslims, who are now much harassed and have been putting out to sea in leaky boats, some, fetching up in Bangladesh and Thailand and Malaysia. Many drowning on the way, or in other hells in Thailand or Malaysia.
Though I was not the one who contacted another Nobel laureate, AK Sen, he was on the panel, and he was also born in Burma in Mandalay. I gave the organizers the names of about 1/2 the panel, about 5-6 experts, including 3 or 4 who specialize only on Wn Burma.

It will show that for a small country, the size of Texas (in area) Mrs Norma Bixler wrote in the first CIA handbook on Burma, it has produced a disproportionate number of world class scholars who have been insufficiently recognized by the Burmese junta, whose members are said to have an average of 5th grade education.
And that might start me on Betsy Devos, so I will stop here.
