One, Bones of the Hills which I read first, mentions the start of the Mongol invasion--

While the last? in the Genghis series, on Ogedai--Tree of Silver talks about the Battle of the Kalka River.

It all happened around Kyiv (Then Kievan Rus) and present-day Mariopol.
