Excerpt from my Shee-Monkey goes West: An Allegory

The Birth
It was the time
of the golden rain showers
lemon yellow flowers
hung in racemes—
each with a lime green
elongated young fruit in its center
half moon
nail shell
the time of the New Year
swaying in the wind.

She-Monkey’s celestial father
sent down a golden shower
impregnating her mother
Paddy Bird on a branch
feet in the air.
She-Monkey is born
out of a lotus blossom
moored
in mud.

She-Monkey’s umbilical cord
shrivelled and dry
like beef jerky is
buried under a tree
flower of green essence
near a well
in
Kamayut.

The scent envelops the scribe
even as he writes.
