Excerpt from my short short story--Gecko.
The Myingyan side of my family, my father’s side, was full of bohemians without great work discipline but possessed of the gift of the gab and the ability to drink.
My mother’s side from Moulmein was mostly prosperous and commercial, and did not drink, could not drink, in fact turned red, if they were fair-skinned, and purple if dark-skinned.
Some allergy.
Now and then there was someone who never worked after World War II, a duck thief, then of course there was Gecko.
